How the Station Works
We set up spin art machines that rotate cardstock at high speed inside enclosed drums. Kids pick their colors and squeeze paint onto the card while it spins. The paint stretches out into radial patterns.
There's no wrong way to do it, which is the appeal — a four-year-old and a nine-year-old both come away with something they like. Our host runs the machines, handles the paint bottles, and keeps the mess inside the drum instead of on your floor.
Each finished card goes into a cardboard display frame. Paint dries in under five minutes, so by the time cake is served every kid has dry art in a frame and a carrying bag. Works on its own or alongside a character visit or magic show.

Spin Art FAQ
Much less than you'd expect. The machines have deep plastic drums and clear lids that enclose the spinning card, so the paint droplets land inside the splash guard. We bring drop-cloths for the table as well. Kids' hands will still get paint on them — it washes off with soap and water.
Water-based tempera paint, the same type used in school art rooms and made for children's craft use. It washes out of most clothes and off hands with warm water and soap. We'd still put kids in play clothes rather than the outfit for the photos.
Under 5 minutes. The spinning throws the paint into very thin layers, so it sets fast. By the time kids wash their hands or finish a game, the card is dry and ready to frame.
Yes, we will need access to one standard electrical outlet nearby to plug in our spinning machines. We also request that you supply a standard folding table, although we bring all our own extension cords, drop-cloths, paints, and machines. If you do not have a table, let us know in advance and we can arrange to bring one!
