Fair Haven is barely two square miles, tucked along the north bank of the Navesink between Rumson and Red Bank. There is no big function hall here, which means most children’s birthdays happen in a back garden, a front room, or down at Fair Haven Fields. That suits us — our setup is compact by design. The performer needs about a four-foot square, a power outlet, and somewhere the children can sit together facing the same direction.
The show is interactive comedy magic, not a polite display of technique. Children are pulled up to hold things, inspect things, and shout the magic word louder than strictly necessary. The birthday child gets the starring role as the magician’s assistant. Afterwards a live bunny comes out for a guided meet-and-greet, and from the one-hour package upward the performer twists a balloon sculpture for every child who wants one.
